Solar power in Cyprus is more available than in almost all of the rest of Europe.
Solar power generation is now economically viable in markets not typically characterised by high levels of irradiation, such as Cyprus.
However, in 2020 only 5.8% of the total electricity power was generated by photovoltaics. The target of solar power generation, including both photovoltaics and concentrated solar power is 2,000MW by 2030 (10-fold increase compared to 2022) and 5,000MW by 2050.
